Hounslow Extra Club (HEC) is delighted to announce an extended range of activities for young people with disabilities in the 11 to 21 age range.

The scheme offers quality activities supervised by qualified and experienced staff: arts and crafts most mornings and access to the local community in the afternoons, parks, bowling and cinema. The group leaders excel at matching the activity with the young people attending's needs, likes and dislikes.

On Tuesdays there is usually a full day trip out - this year it's the Look Out Centre in Bracknell, Thorpe Park, the model village in Beaconsfield and Thames Valley Adventure Playground.

The committee is delighted that its fund-raising efforts have resulted in the daily charge to parents and carers remaining at an affordable £17 per day, with some places fully sponsored by the Children with Disabilities Team at social services. "Being able to book whatever days I need means I can go and do some non disabled-friendly activities with my other children, knowing that my disabled child is having a great time too," was one of the scheme's recent feedback comments.

Parent Trustee Frances Mohsen said: " Everyone has worked very hard this year. I have been amazed by their commitment."

Due to expansion we do have a small number of vacancies for the summer programme. Young people do not have to live in Hounslow to attend, but need to get to either Hanworth (near Feltham) in the first two weeks of the break or Hounslow in the remaining three.

All enquiries about attending the scheme to go through the club Co-Chairs - call Lorna on 07718 860 656 or Manjit on 07947 771 268
