Elvis.jpgWhen medics told Daya Mohindra she would one day be unable to leave her home in central Hounslow, she was understandably all shook up.

But, with a little help from Transport for London (TfL), she's been able to get out and about more than ever and meet some of the capital's biggest characters like this silver Elvis.

A Hounslow student is celebrating after receiving the highest possible marks in his biology AS level.

Heathland School pupil Dinesh Hasla's 300 out of 300 saw him rise to the top out of more than 7,870 candidates.

Dinesh said he knew he'd worked hard but he never thought he'd get such a high score.

Party time at Hindu temple

Join Hounslow's Hindu Community Temple for an evening of celebrations as they mark the god Krishna's birthday on Sunday.

The organisers of the event, in Neville Close, will host a variety of activities between 7.30pm and midnight, with music, singing and dancing to be expected.

Rugby07.jpgHounslow Police Safer Transport Team ran a week long youth diversion scheme with the English Rugby Football Union,which culminated in a finals day involving 80 youths held at Beavers Sports Lodge, Hounslow West.

The event called "Tag and Tackle Crime", organised by PCSO Dave Nicholas, involved youths from all areas of Hounslow ranging from 8 to 17 year olds.

baby-Zahraa-1--.jpgMisbah Uddin supported his wife Rashida during 29 hours of labour and an emergency C-section, before the arrival of their new daughter at West Middlesex Hospital two weeks ago.

Misbah, 28, a managing director, and Rashida, 26, a support co-ordinator, were delighted with the birth of Zahraa at 11.02pm, on July 30.

Man struck with metal pole

A 25-year-old man was hit in the back with a metal of the head by a robber in Hounslow on Wednesday last week.

The attacker struck on Derby Road, at 11pm, delivering the blow before making off with the victim's mobile phone.

He is a black man, around 5ft 10in, aged around 17, wearing a white and brown camouflage hoodie and clean, white trainers.

He is believed to have passed the victim in a group of around 10 youths just before the assault.
