Global concert thrills shoppers

Concert 181008.jpgShoppers in Hounslow High Street were treated to a concert featuring songs and dances from across the globe on Saturday.

Crowds gathered to watch as about 20 acts representing countries from Spain to China took to the stage outside the Vodafone shop between noon and 4pm.

The event was jointly organised by Hounslow Multicultural Centre, Hounslow Racial Equality Council (HREC) and the events management team at Hounslow Council in a bid to liven up the shopping parade.

"Hounslow can't compete with Oxford Street or Covent Garden when it comes to entertainment but we wanted to make it a more exciting place to shop," said HREC chairman Satvinder Buttar.

Mr Buttar added that, following the positive response from residents and businesses, he hopes to make the concert a more regular event with the help of sponsors.

If you would be interested in supporting such an event, please call HREC on 020 8583 2525.
