Opera group to perform Gilbert & Sullivan favourite

Posted by Robert Cumber on Nov 3, 08 05:53 PM in What's On

Hounslow Light Opera's autumn show at Hampton Hill Playhouse this month is one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular operettas, The Gondoliers.

The traditional topsy-turvey Gilbert plot takes us shores to the sunny streets of Venice at Carnival time in the search for a gondolier who is really a king.

Except there are two brothers, who are both gondoliers, and who knows which one is king.

With experienced Hounslow director Helen Smith in charge, the show promises to be a riot of colourful costumes and masks, singing and dancing, with songs including 'Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes' and 'Dance a Cachuca'.

The Gondoliers runs from Wednesday November 12 to Saturday November 15 at 7.45 pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday.

Tickets, costing £12 (£10 concessions), are available from the box office on 020 8898 2971.
