Hundreds expected at Heathrow picnic protest

Plane.jpgEnvironmental campaigners are set to invade Heathrow on Monday dressed in Edwardian costume.

Members of eco group Climate Rush will storm Terminal 1 at 7pm to protest against plans for a third runway.

Hundreds of people are expected to settle down for a picnic to the strains of a string quarter amid the hubbub of the world's busiest international airport.

The feast, being held in the domestic departures area marks the return of MPs from their winter break.

Campaigners have also set up a Facebook page asking people to submit topical artwork to redecorate the terminal.

In case you were wondering, the Edwardian dress is a tribute to the Sufragettes, whose campaigning in the early 20th century inspired the members of Climate Rush.
