Police hunt Hounslow High Street bag snatcher

Posted by Robert Cumber on Jan 14, 09 05:05 PM in Crime

Two unsuspecting shoppers had bags and bank cards snatched on Hounslow High Street this week and police are investigating the possibility they were both robbed by the same man.

At 1pm on Saturday a 35-year-old disabled woman had her card stolen as she used a cash point outside Barclays bank.

She was approached from behind by the suspect, who bumped into her causing her to stumble to one side. He then pressed the cancel button on the till and took the victim's bank card.

On Monday a 42-year-old male had his bag snatched at 1.30pm in the same location as he was looking around for somewhere to eat.

The suspect then ran off at great speed towards Hounslow Bus Garage. Victim not injured.

Both victims described the thief as a man of Asian appearance, aged around 20 to 25, around 5ft 9in, wearing black.

Det Insp Jeff Minns, of Hounslow CID, said: "These two incidents, I suspect, are linked as they occurred in the same place and with the same suspect description. Shoppers and local residents need to be vigilant around their belongings and when using cash tills."

Anyone with information is asked to call Hounslow CID on 020 8247 6160 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111,
