Members of the Second Fusiliers at Hounslow BarracksSoldiers from Hounslow Barracks will take part in a farewell parade next Thursday, March 5, before heading off to Afghanistan.

More than 300 troops from the Second Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, will march along Hounslow High Street and up to the Civic Centre in Lampton Road.

SFIDA (Challenge) Albanian/Kosovan/Macedonian and Gorani Women's Group in Hounslow held an informative and enlightening event on the 21st February 2009 in the Green Room at the Treaty Centre in Hounslow to increase awareness within the community about preventing violence and extremism.

They were joined by Karen Snoddy, Adam Garcia and Karmjit Rekhi, police officers from Hounslow's new Prevent and Engagement Team which focuses on supporting individuals who are vulnerable to recruitment by those who promote extremism.

Pants on fire in Hounslow West

A homeowner in Hounslow West got a nasty shock when he tried to clean his clothes and ended up nearly setting his house alight.

Two engines from Feltham Station raced to the semi-detached property in Connaught Avenue when a washing machine went up in flames at noon on Sunday.

Onlookers watch as the train passes through FelthamExcitement levels reached fever pitch at Feltham and Hounslow train stations this weekend as spotters and families jostled together for the best view of two magnificent steam engines.

The beautifully restored locomotives, a Tornado No 60163 and an Orient Express lunch train hauled by a Merchant Navy Class Loco 35028, stunned the large crowds as they whistled through stations up and down the line on Saturday.
