Bus designs go on display at Transport Museum
A brother-and-sister duo from Hounslow are clearly going places after their futuristic bus designs were chosen to appear at a new exhibition.
Inderjit and Harjit Mehroke's eye-catching visions for a new Routemaster have gone on display at London Transport Museum alongside 50 other creations from the competition.
Inderjit, a 17-year-old art student at Heston Community School, impressed judges in the 16-18 age group with her vehicle, which inluded a drop-down dryer for soaked passengers.
IT technician Harjit, 22, just missed out in the over-18 category with his 'Virtual World Routemaster', which allows passengers to escape drab reality and immerse themselves in their own imaginary universe.
Proud mum Pardeep, of Clifford Road, Hounslow West, said her children were mad about design and had been entering contests since they were tots.
"There's a lot of competition between the two of them so it's nice both their designs were chosen," she added.
Sadly, we won't be seeing either of their models on our roads any time soon. The contest was jointly won by Aston Martin/Foster & Partners and Capoco Design, whose more conventional creations are also on display at the museum.
The New Bus for London exhibition is in the museum's Cubic Foyer, open every weekend, until March 29. Admission is free.
