'Outstanding' Ofsted result for St Mark's Catholic School
Pupils and teachers at St Mark's Catholic School are celebrating an 'outstanding' Ofsted report after hitting all the right notes with inspectors.
The secondary school in Bath Road, Hounslow, last month, was awarded top marks for all 23 areas on which it was judged in the report, published today.
Inspectors, who visited during January, praised the 'delightful atmosphere', excellent teaching and the exemplary behaviour of pupils.
"Everyone works together in seeking to achieve the school's stated aim of enabling pupils 'to fulfil their God-given potential'," they wrote.
"The school has developed a near-perfect balance of ensuring that pupils make great progress and attain high standards but at the same time develop into well-rounded, independent, caring, courteous and upright citizens."
There was particular praise for the way new pupils arriving with limited English are helped integrate into a new culture through initiatives like the after-school Polish club.
Head teacher Paul Enright described the report as a 'tremendous endorsement' of all the hard work by staff, pupils, parents and governors at the school.
"St Mark's is a very special community with a positive ethos based on gospel values," he added.
"It was very pleasing that the Diocesan inspection also graded the school outstanding in every category."
