Peach Personnel staff raise £7,000 for Macmillan
A Hounslow recruitment firm received a big thank you from Macmillan this week for raising over £7,000 for the cancer support charity.
Staff at Peach Personnel Services, in Hounslow, began fundraising five years ago to support their former colleague Liz Waite, who had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Picking up their latest fundraising cheque last week, fundraising manager Katie Francis said: "The fantastic amount that they raised could help fund Macmillan's benefits helpline for a month, identifying on average £885,000 in benefits.
"All these proceeds couldn't have been raised without the enthusiasm of Peach's employees. They have continuously put all their weight into fundraising by taking part in a wide range of activities, including coffee mornings, sponsored walks and online auctions."
Mrs Waite, of Park Road, Hounslow, has proved a dedicated fundraiser in her own right and was recently awarded the Douglas Macmillan Award for advocating Macmillan.
The regional award, named after the charity's founder, is given to volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the organisation's work by representing or speaking up for Macmillan, promoting its charitable purpose or getting media coverage.
Mrs Waite has shared her story in newsletters, contributed to a money raising cookbook and raised over £37,000 for Macmillan through her popular coffee mornings and other events.
