Man battered in road rage attack outside Asda

An irate driver battered a man over the head in front of stunned shoppers during a row over parking outside ASDA in Hounslow.

The 29-year-old victim was holding a space for a friend on Wednesday last week at about 12.30pm when a white van driver tried to park there, nearly running him over.

In the heated argument that followed, the two men in the van armed themselves with weapons they found lying around and brutally assaulted the man.

The victim's face and head were badly cut, but he did not require surgery.

DS Sarah Swift, of Hounslow Police, appealed for witnesses to come forward.

"Sadly, this shows that minor road rage incidents can escalate to something far more serious," she said.

"Some concerning members of the public have come forward but I am looking for any other witnesses who haven't spoken to us yet to get in contact with me."

Anyone with information is asked to call Hounslow CID on 020 8247 6160 or Crimestoppers, free and anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
