Revellers gear up for TW4 Carnival in Beaversfield Park

Youngsters are putting the finishing touches to their costumes for this year's TW4 Community Carnival in Hounslow West.

A parade by children, wearing all the different colours of the rainbow to celebrate the theme of diversity, will kick off a day of activities for all the family next Saturday, June 27.

They will follow a truck with a live DJ, leaving the The Hub community centre in Salisbury Road at midday, to Beaversfield Park.

Revellers will be able to enjoy live music, an Army assault course and various arts and crafts sessions at the park, in Rosemary Avenue, until 4pm.

Other activities will include a bouncy castle, story and rhyme sessions and sports.
Father Ken Buckler, chairman of the TW4 Community Development Trust, which runs the annual event, said he was hoping for a big turn-out.

"We're really looking forward to this year's carnival, which is going to be bigger and better than ever," he said.

"Everybody's put in a lot of time to make beautiful parade costumes, especially the children. I can't wait to see all their hard work pay off with a fun day for everyone."

The Army, youth service Sure Start, nursery Places for Children, Somali group Ilays, Beavers Primary School and the local brownies pack have all spent the last few months designing costumes for the parade.

If you have children aged under and would like to take part in the parade, you can join in T-shirt decorating sessions at The Hub tomorrow (June 19, 10am-2pm), Saturday (June 20, 9.30am-12pm) and next Friday (June 26, 10am-2pm).

We'd like to hear from you.
